Biographical Note
Noel Riedinger-Johnson is an author and former director of the Adirondack Research Center. She was born in Schenectady, New York, in 1943. Her parents, Ruth and Albert Riedinger, were friends of Jeanne Robert Foster and republished her book, "Neighbors of Yesterday" in 1963. On the death of Foster in 1970, Ruth was willed a significant amount of Foster's manuscripts, correspondence and personal effects from her Adirondack and Schenectady periods which later passed to Noel. After a life-long fascination with Foster's work, Noel obtained a contract to edit and publish a volume of her poems and prose in 1986 entitled, "Adirondack portraits: a piece of time." Noel was also involved with film production and editing, working on projects for both General Electric and the Couch-Sa-Chra-Ga Association, Inc. In addition, she was also involved in environmental advocacy in the Adirondacks, belonging to the Friends of the Forest Preserve, Inc.
